Ever since I got my hands on my first diary at age 8, I knew I wanted to be a writer.
Aside from the horrible spelling and questionable punctuation, every page of my chocolate smudged Snoopy diary was filled with drama, humor, sarcasm and, later on, teenage angst.
Sadly, I destroyed my first diary since the prying eyes of nosy older siblings proved too dangerous and, the little angel that I was, I wrote about them a lot.
Sibling teasing and blackmail were always on the menu du jour, and I wasn’t about to be served up as a tasty appetizer.
So imagine my delight…
when my story was chosen to be included in the humor anthology Not Your Mother’s Book On Being A Mom, created by co-authors and editors of the Chicken Soup For The Soul series. (Truly lovely people who obviously have excellent judgement.)
I remember receiving the golden ticket email that my story was chosen while we were on our way to dinner. I don’t think my feet touched the ground as I walked from the car to the restaurant.
I felt like Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady. Yes, I could have danced all night. I actually whispered a little cheers to myself every time I took a sip of my Pinot Grigio.
Yes I did.
Here is a snapshot of me when I got my hands on the first copy of the book. Just look at it. Do I look excited or what?! It’s a little blurry but it’s hard to get a good selfie when you’re jumping up and down.
As I was saying, I’m in this book. This hilarious book about the trials and tribulations moms go through and the boo-boo kisses we give along the way as we raise our children from birth to empty nest.
If you’re looking for a good laugh or just want to commiserate, look no further. You can find Not Your Mother’s Book On Being A Mom on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Enjoy.
Disclosure: Authors not held responsible if you spit your drink during laughter.
